Why was Ramon Ramirez in the game?
October 9th, 2009 by czar

R. Ramirez since June 10th:

41.1 IP
.278/.374/.479/.854
47 H
23 BB
37 K
3.97 ERA / 5.01 FIP

He’s been the textbook case of a bad reliever with a reasonable looking ERA because of a ridiculous strand rate (in part buoyed by the fact that he has good arms behind him). He hasn’t been anything better than the Sox 5th best reliever since long before the ASB and with Wagner’s arrival, you can definitely make the case that he should have been the second-to-last arm (Byrd) out of a fresh pen last night.

About The Site

  • Traversing the land that is known as Red Sox Nation, The Czar Who Wears Red Sox is an attempt at compiling a repertoire of my ever-so-sexy forum posts (when I'm too lazy to write my own damn entry) and other random baseball thoughts that strike. For those whose posts serve as the inspiration of my epiphanies and rants, do not be angry, but merely, be honored that you have achieved such status. Names will never be revealed. Feedback appreciated, as this is a work in progress.
