Should the Sox go after Ben Sheets?
December 11th, 2008 by czar

In his last 5 years, Sheets has had ERA+ of 162, 128, 119, 117, 139.

Three year splits?

4.00 K/BB
7.9 K/9

Even with this perceived injury notion, he has still averaged 25 starts his last three years, culminating with 31 last year (before a torn forearm muscle, which he has supposedly recovered from) — prior to that he made 34 consecutive starts three straight seasons.

On a 2 or 3 year deal, Sheets seems like easy money compared to paying Burnett 5/85 or a 36 year-old Lowe 4/60.

About The Site

  • Traversing the land that is known as Red Sox Nation, The Czar Who Wears Red Sox is an attempt at compiling a repertoire of my ever-so-sexy forum posts (when I'm too lazy to write my own damn entry) and other random baseball thoughts that strike. For those whose posts serve as the inspiration of my epiphanies and rants, do not be angry, but merely, be honored that you have achieved such status. Names will never be revealed. Feedback appreciated, as this is a work in progress.
