Buchholz vs. Bowden in a deal…
November 7th, 2008 by czar

If we’re moving a young pitcher, I’d rather move Buchholz since Bowden has the bigger upside.

I mean, everything I’ve said in this argument is posted somewhere in this thread (at least I THINK it’s this one). But seriously? I mean, you will not find a single scout in baseball that says Bowden has a bigger UPSIDE than Clay. The ones that say Bowden has a higher floor than Buchholz are probably in the minority as well.

I’m a Michael Bowden fan and I’d hate to move either pending the circumstances; but everyone around here bases this notion of “upside” on half a big league season. Buchholz’s stuff? Superior to Bowden’s. Buchholz’s peripherals? Superior to Bowden’s. Buchholz’s overall minor league numbers? Superior to Bowden’s.

I need to go find those threads where everyone was all about Abe Alvarez being better long-term than Lester; and since Lester struggled in his rookie season, we should move him before everyone figured out he was garbage.

And please, everyone; just say “no” to Derek Lowe. (I even made it rhyme for you guys.)
