Is Dunn a viable replacement for Ortiz?
June 9th, 2008 by czar

Dunn is an undervalued player because his BA is so low. High OBP and SLG make him very valuable, but he has a bit of the Chris Carter problem, in that his defense is bad.

Bit of a problem might be an understatement.

He’s been 20, 12, 16 and 19 runs below average (BP’s FRAA) the last four years in LF. They’re even worse normalized to a 162 game season.

  • Traversing the land that is known as Red Sox Nation, The Czar Who Wears Red Sox is an attempt at compiling a repertoire of my ever-so-sexy forum posts (when I'm too lazy to write my own damn entry) and other random baseball thoughts that strike. For those whose posts serve as the inspiration of my epiphanies and rants, do not be angry, but merely, be honored that you have achieved such status. Names will never be revealed.
