No glove love for Coco…

On Coco Crisp getting snubbed for the Gold Glove…

Coco Crisp:
Rate: 120
FRAR: 44
FRAA: 28

Torii Hunter
Rate: 101
FRAR: 19
FRAA: 1

The name recog is all you need…

I don’t have a huge issue with Coco not winning a Gold Glove.  He played in a 145 games. By comparison, Ichiro appeared in 161, Hunter, 160, and Sizemore, 162.  They all played outstanding defense and they each played roughly 10% more than Crisp to boot. I don’t think Coco was slighted here.

Sizemore
Rate: 95
FRAA: -7

Ichiro:
Rate: 109
FRAA: 14

The stats beg to differ.

Crisp was never going to get the publicity that the other guys got, I don’t even know why this is an issue.

But I’m talking about who DESERVED it, not who I figured WOULD get it. And since the Gold Glove rewards defensive excellence, Crisp DESERVED it– over at least two of the guys who won (in fact, Sizemore was below-average this year pretty much across the board in every defensive metric).

Hell, I was half expecting Pedroia to beat out Polanco, even though PP didn’t make an error all season, just because Pedroia got so much pub at the end of the season.
