What to do with Wily Mo?

So what do we do with WMP?

Offensively, He went 0-4 with 3 K’s at the plate (though in his defense, he was flat-out robbed by Curtis Granderson of a HR). He is now hitting .208/.280/.367 with 49 K in 120 AB (with a miserable 11 AB/BB (.22 BB/K) ratio). If you extrapolate his stats to 600 AB (risky with SSS) he only projects to about 20 HR. This would be the second year in a row his full-time power projections put him well below 25 HR.

Defensively, he made Manny look like a Gold Glover in LF in the 3rd yesterday on a double hit by Gary Sheffield– Sheffield came to score on Guillen’s bomb a few moments later.

I’m one of the guys who has– and still appreciates WMP’s power hitting potential, but the lack of use this team has for him (as well as the lack of him making a case for playing time) is really getting more obvious by the day.

Do we sell low and bring in a more productive 4th OF who can play D, and is good on the basepaths, or let him chill on the bench in case a full-time position (either this year or next) opens up and hope he can realize his potential and become a valuable asset to the team.
