Miguel Cabrera? Uh, no.
June 22nd, 2007 by czar

I heard that the Sox may be in on Miguel Cabrera.  I’m all for it if we can do it without Buchholz.

We’re not getting Miguel Cabrera. The person who suggested it was immediately shot down and the mods stepped in and asked to keep it to legit trade speculation only.

That said, if he were available — Buchholz is gone. You can’t say “Let’s hold on to Buchholz, and give them these other 5 guys.”

Buchholz is our primo chip. If you want someone who’s young and a superstar, you damn sure better know you’re giving up Clay. You just can’t tell another team, “OK, we’ll trade for your best player– who is under 25, a perennial all-star, and a proven MVP candidate, but we’re keeping our best prospect.”

When will Miggy be a FA?

Not until ’09 and that’s if he’s a super two, ’10 if he’s not.

About The Site

  • Traversing the land that is known as Red Sox Nation, The Czar Who Wears Red Sox is an attempt at compiling a repertoire of my ever-so-sexy forum posts (when I'm too lazy to write my own damn entry) and other random baseball thoughts that strike. For those whose posts serve as the inspiration of my epiphanies and rants, do not be angry, but merely, be honored that you have achieved such status. Names will never be revealed. Feedback appreciated, as this is a work in progress.
